Commission approves consent agenda, two board appointments and multiple event contracts

The Weber County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 27 approved its consent agenda and a slate of appointments and contracts covering purchase orders, warrants, interlocal appointments and event services.
Chair Gage Frower presented consent items G‑1 through G‑6, including a request to approve purchase orders totaling $1,379,505.21 and warrants in the amount of $853,658. Ricky Hatch summarized procurement activity, saying the county issued 17 purchase orders this week totaling about $1,400,000. Hatch said roughly 73% of PO dollars (~$1,000,000) were for the jail (meals and commissary), about 15% (~$205,000) were for fleet (vehicles for the sheriff’s office), and about 6% (~$85,000) were for roads (road salt and sign rentals). The top five payees that week included Young Ford (~$205,000), Pleasant View City (~$124,000) and OverDrive Inc. (~$81,000).
The commission moved and approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
Appointments and resolutions: the board approved Resolution 06‑2026 acknowledging Huntsville Town’s appointment of Jim Truitt to the Ogden Valley Park Service Area board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. The commission also approved Resolution 07‑2026 appointing Mikhail Patovich (applicant name as read in the transcript) to fill a Division 1 vacancy on the Roy Water Conservancy District board through Dec. 31, 2026; both resolutions passed on roll call votes recorded as 'Aye.'
Contracts and agreements: the commission approved a contract with Trend Eats LLC to host the 805 Night Markets food festival at the Golden Spike Event Center; staff said the event did not fit the existing fee ordinance so the contract was structured to cover hard costs and labor. The board also approved a contract extension with Fuel Marketing to handle paid media buys for the 2026 Weber County Fair; staff noted the fair dates as Aug. 5–8, 2026. The board approved amendments to indigent defense contracts presented by the public defender’s office — including contracts for Colton McKay, Carl Anderson and Michael Bowers that reflect a 2% pay increase for contracted attorneys serving the Second District Court — and approved an amended contract for Rich Williams to represent indigent juveniles in Second District juvenile court. The commission then recessed into, and later closed, a statutorily required public hearing on compensation increases before adjourning the meeting.
