Council approves seasonal events and hears calls for volunteers; community Thanksgiving dinner to serve 1,000 meals

The council approved the consent items by voice/consent and recorded votes consistent with the agenda.
During citizen comments, Fred Wills (Speaker 6) said the Havre de Grace annual community Thanksgiving dinner will occur Nov. 28. He said last year’s effort served about 1,500 meals (a COVID‑era peak) and that this year organizers plan to prepare and deliver about 1,000 meals free of charge to seniors and care facilities across the region, with volunteers asked to arrive at specified times to prepare and deliver meals. Wills provided contact numbers for volunteering, donation and meal requests and encouraged community support.
Christina O’Meara of the See of Hope Foundation described a Wave of Light remembrance walk and a related event application for May; she also noted fundraising needs, including bereavement boxes and a sibling scholarship fund offering up to $800 in awards.
