Council holds public hearings on Green Team agreements for food forest and composting; councilor urges expansion of composting program

Casey (Speaker 3) spoke in favor: "It is approaching 200,000 pounds of compost or of waste that has been prevented from going into the landfill and is now being turned into... usable soil," Casey said, noting heavy use at the single existing site and urging that the mayor’s next budget include funds to expand the program and add another location to prevent more waste from entering Scarborough landfill.
No members of the public registered opposition. Following Speaker 3’s remarks the council closed the public hearing. The transcript records no formal vote on the ordinances at this meeting; each item will proceed according to the council’s agenda schedule.
