Capital committee to pursue traffic signal at Myers Corners Elementary, recommend CHA as contract manager

Trustee Migets, chair of the capital committee, told the board the committee met twice in January to focus on a single issue at each meeting: interviewing four firms to recommend a contract manager for district capital projects and discussing traffic and parking at Myers Corners Elementary.
"We met on Thursday, January 8 and interviewed four companies to choose to recommend a contract manager to the board for the capital project," Trustee Migets said, noting the board approved allowing President Marie Johnson to sign a contract with CHA once attorneys complete drafting.
On Jan. 14 the committee invited Dutchess County Legislator Kevin Giles and Principal Sydney Goldstein to discuss traffic congestion at Myers Corners during drop‑off and pick‑up. The committee agreed to explore working with the county to pursue installing a traffic signal at the school entryway and to look for funding options and parking‑lot improvements to reduce congestion.
Trustee Migets said Legislator Giles will raise the issue with his committee and report back. No contract was executed at the meeting; the board authorized the president to sign with CHA after lawyers finish contract language.
The capital committee plans further meetings, with the next scheduled for Feb. 4, to continue vetting the contract manager selection and coordinate with county officials about traffic improvements.
