GeoTech donates $25,944 to fund Stewartville high‑school robotics course; board accepts donations

The Stewartville Public School District on Monday accepted a $25,944 donation from GeoTech to buy robotics equipment, tools and storage for a new high‑school course called Foundations of Robotics.
District staff member Katie Morlock introduced the company representatives and said the donation will allow the district to offer the new course in next year’s registration and to acquire the materials needed to run instruction and a team program. “With the $25,944 donation from Geotech, we are able to have all of the robotics equipment for that course,” Morlock said.
Carl Clausen, GeoTech’s director of corporate initiatives, told the board the company has contributed to schools previously and wanted to help kick‑start robotics programming locally. The board recognized other recent community gifts, including contributions from Zion Lutheran Church, the soccer booster club, the Diamond Club (baseball/softball) and booster clubs for girls’ and boys’ golf, and an anonymous donation for art supplies.
The board moved and seconded the resolution to accept the donations and recorded the vote; the resolution carried 6‑0 with one member absent.
Board members said they hope the public recognition will encourage additional local partnerships and that the robotics course will build students’ STEM and industry‑relevant skills. The donation and the full list of donors will be posted with the district’s required publications of gifts.
