Warrick County reports record $5.25 million in 2025 investment interest; board approves reports

Warrick County’s Board of Finance reviewed its 2025 investment report on Jan. 29, with the document showing $5,250,271.01 in interest earned during the year — the largest amount the county has recorded, the board was told. The packet included a legal-size investment sheet with monthly interest details and year-to-date comparisons back to 2021.
The report noted changes in interest rates as of Dec. 31 and said some rates have begun to fall while balances remain concentrated in two primary banks that continue to yield higher returns than the county’s pooled trust. Board members were told that a jail construction bond had been removed from the county’s general-fund reporting after the State Board of Accounts audited the books, so that bond’s amounts are no longer recorded on the county’s general-fund statements.
The report also said a certificate of deposit that matured Jan. 2 earned $297,412.25 in interest and was reinvested. Separately, the county placed a $5,800,000 CD with UFB after finding its rate better than an offer from Vantira, the packet indicated. The presenter said the county intends to keep that CD invested rather than drawing on it.
After the report, a motion to accept the reports was made, seconded and approved on a recorded tally of 4–0. No individual roll-call votes were recorded in the transcript.
