Gonzales planning commissioners elect new chair and chair pro tem

At the start of the July 14 meeting the Gonzales City Planning Commission completed its annual reorganization. Commissioners nominated and voted to appoint Tensia Vargas as the new commission chair and Alex Ramirez as chair pro tem.
Those leadership changes were approved by voice vote during the meeting; staff noted there is no pay change associated with the positions. Commissioners and staff exchanged seat assignments and the chair took the gavel for the remainder of the meeting.
The leadership turnover followed the departure of the previous pro tem, who moved out of the city, and marks the commission—s organizational step for the year.
