Commissioners discussed constraints because the shelter fund is not currently budgeted; Speaker 6 explained that the money could be placed into the new budget once the county completes its annual financial report (AFR). "It's a non-budgeted fund right now," Speaker 6 said, noting the county can make a temporary appropriation and reconcile after the AFR is filed.
After discussion, the panel voted by consensus to provide $60,000 now and to leave the remaining $10,000 unfunded for the moment, with a plan to revisit the request after the AFR and to monitor the shelter's reserve and revenue going forward.
