Staff explained the Coast Guard vessel has been a long-term tenant and that the current power at the F dock is not suitable for the vessel’s short tie; four firms responded to the district’s RFQ. Staff recommended Robert Colburn Electric based on qualifications and a competitive price of $198,254, and the district will execute a lease modification so the Coast Guard reimburses tenant-improvement costs.
Commissioners had no substantive questions; the board moved, seconded and approved the contract authorization by voice vote. Staff said full reimbursement by the Coast Guard had been negotiated.
The contract authorization was procedural and intended to maintain a tenant relationship with the Coast Guard and ensure suitable berthing and services at the district’s FDock. Staff will return with finalized contract documents and any required change orders if unexpected conditions arise during construction.
