Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District staff told the board that the federal government withdrew multiple renewable-energy grants that supported the Port of Humboldt Bay heavy-lift marine terminal project and related community benefits.
“At on August 29, we received 2 letters from the Federal Department of Transportation, letting us know that the federal government has withdrawn or terminated 12 different grants from around the nation, all associated with renewable energy,” a staff member reported to the board. The staff presentation cited $679,000,000 in grants withdrawn nationwide and identified the district’s Infra grant (the staff presentation described roughly $426,000,000 attributable to Infra costs in the national totals) and the district’s PDIP grant (about $8,000,000) as affected locally.
