Human Rights Commission forms committee to study meeting access, language services and outreach

Speaker 7 described the current meeting room as "abysmal" for public engagement and recommended larger, more inviting spaces when topic-specific crowds are expected; others pressed that Zoom provides critical access for rural residents.

Members proposed specific outreach steps: use Access Humboldt captioning and translation features where possible, allow event-specific interpreter arrangements (with payment), use library distribution for educational materials and pursue special meetings in larger venues (e.g., Supervisor's Chamber) when needed.
