At the Jan. 28 meeting the Wise County Board of Supervisors approved three formal actions.
The board first authorized Supervisor Locksford to participate remotely while recovering from knee surgery after a motion by Mister Bordwine and a second; the motion passed on a voice vote ('Aye').
Later in the session the board appointed Deborah Horton to the Mount Empire Community College district-2 seat after a motion by Bob Atkins and a second; members approved the appointment by voice vote.
Before adjourning the board voted to recess the meeting to Feb. 3 at 10:00 a.m. to continue the tax-rate and budget work; staff will prepare updated revenue tables and departmental reduction scenarios for that session.
All three actions were recorded by voice vote; the clerk will reflect them in the minutes and follow up on notifications and advertising requirements.
