He expects the study to conclude in the 2027 school year with possible impacts for the 2027–28 and 2028–29 school years.
The board later considered and adopted the 2026–27 school calendar. Dr. Maloney reported one question from a local superintendent about students who attend Cascadia Tech Academy had been answered by a district director during follow-up; Director Perkins moved to adopt the calendar, Director Grenwalt seconded, and the board voiced "Aye." The chair announced the motion carries.
The superintendent also noted the district recently increased facility rental rates to market and that rental revenue currently "earns just a hair above cost," but could increase if more spaces become available for rent following the study.
No enrollment, consolidation decisions or specific school closures were announced; Maloney said the study is intended to provide data for future decision-making and that potential program moves would be evaluated with an eye to preserving services.
