Putnam County Commission approves purchasing cooperation, franchise, budget amendments and appointments

Appointments and administrative matters: The nominating committee’s recommendations for the Agricultural Extension Committee (Danny Holmes, Ben Rogers, Alton Freeman, Kathy Dyer) were ratified for two-year terms through January 2028. The commission approved a slate of notaries and ratified county mayor Randy Porter’s reappointments to the Health and Safety Standards Board (Mel Maxwell and Ted McWilliams). The commission also approved a $100,000 public official bond for Director of Schools Corby King for January 2026–January 2027.
Debt reporting: The commission acknowledged a report required by the comptroller’s office on a 2025 general obligation school refunding bond, which saved an estimated $170,000; that acknowledgement required no vote.
