Committee sets extension to June 30 for license No. 3749 as construction continues

On Jan. 26 the Sheboygan Licensing & Public Safety Committee approved an extension of liquor license No. 3749 to June 30, the end of the current license year, after city staff reported construction activities were under way and permits had been pulled.
City Attorney staff told the committee that permits and inspections are ongoing and that the property owner had obtained redevelopment permission to place a dumpster to support construction. The attorney recommended tying any extension to the end of the license year so that it would expire June 30 if work was not completed sooner.
Ms. Chong, the applicant who sought the extension, told the committee she could not guarantee the project would be done in May but said the team was aiming for May. “I cannot say I'm comfortable with saying it's gonna be in May but we're gonna shoot for May,” she said.
Alder Perella moved to extend the license for six months; the motion was amended on counsel advice to set the expiration date at June 30. The committee approved the amended motion by voice vote.
City Attorney staff reiterated that future extension requests would be considered by the committee that is seated in June and are not guaranteed.
