Board asks Asbury to deliver new written contract after agreeing to 50% of requested increase

The LaPorte County Regional Sewer and Water District Board discussed Asbury’s operations contract and asked the company to present a new written agreement for the board’s February meeting.
Staff said Asbury previously asked for an increase (reported in committee) and the executive committee recommended accepting half of the requested increase. Board members said the prior written contract and its extensions lapsed on Oct. 31, 2025, and that a new contract should show correct dates and the agreed‑to compensation. The board instructed staff to have Tom Asbury submit a written contract reflecting the agreed terms so the district’s reviewer (Barry) can examine it before the February meeting.
During the discussion Asbury’s representative noted a correction to an EMR submitted to the state and EPA: a December flow entry had been corrected from 19,000 to 90,000. Staff said they will review the corrected EMR and the contract draft and bring the item back for a vote in February. Board members emphasized that the 50% figure covers existing services and does not bind the board to any proposed expanded work Asbury may later request for Hudson/Saugony operations.
No formal contract approval occurred on Jan. 27; the board requested the new written contract and delayed any formal vote until the Feb. meeting after staff review.
