Kingsford Heights council fixes oversight, approves retroactive town marshal pay adjustment

The ordinance, read by title at the meeting, sets the town marshal's annual salary for the remainder of 2025 at $65,500. Council members said the earlier salary amendment had not been properly incorporated in the ordinance language, and the new measure corrects that oversight.
Council moved and seconded the amendment, approved it, and then approved the ordinance on second reading by title only and again on third reading by title only. After the third reading council made a separate motion to implement the pay adjustment in accordance with the ordinance; that motion also passed unanimously.
The action corrects the town's payroll records for the period specified in the ordinance and directs staff to make the adjustment retroactive as described. The council did not discuss additional changes to the town marshal's future compensation schedule at the meeting.
The ordinance language presented at the meeting (read aloud) stated the annual salary effective 11/13/2025 through 12/31/2025 and incorporated the amended whereas sections into the 2025 salary ordinance. Council members voted in favor on each procedural step and the final implementation motion.
The council did not identify any legal citations beyond the ordinance number during the discussion. The ordinance replaces an earlier omission in the 2025 salary ordinance and asks the clerk's office to carry out the payroll adjustment retroactive to the dates in the ordinance.
