Committee approves MOSH amendment that restores 75 parking spaces and requests March fundraising update

The Finance Committee on Jan. 21 approved an amendment to the MOSH agreement that preserves a minimum of 75 on‑site parking spaces and allows the Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) board to extend the project's performance schedule up to six months without additional City Council approval.
Philip Peterson explained the amendment before the committee, saying it attaches revised exhibits to appropriate capital project dollars, corrects funding sources, and strikes language that would have reduced on‑site parking. Councilmember Ron Salem told the committee he had urged reinstating 75 spaces during neighborhood deliberations and said the developer produced redesigns that satisfied that request.
Chair and members also discussed fundraising progress. The chair reported a conversation with MOSH’s fundraising team indicating MOSH has raised about $100,000,000 and is in the final $25–30 million stretch. The chair requested a progress report in March, either to the Finance Committee or the downtown special committee, so members could track fundraising and consider potential assistance if needed.
The amendment carried on voice vote and the committee approved the bill as amended (vote recorded as 6 yeas, 0 nays).
