Board approves tentative agreement with teachers union including modest salary increase

The San Rafael City Schools Board approved, by voice vote, a tentative agreement with the San Rafael Federation of Teachers (SRFT) on Jan. 27.
District staff summarized the financial terms: a total salary increase of 1.65 percent, of which 0.7 percentage points are ongoing (permanent to the salary schedule) and 0.95 percentage points are a one-time payment. Staff also reported that the Marin County Office of Education completed the AB 1200 review required for the agreement.
Trustees moved and seconded the motion to approve the tentative agreement; the motion carried by voice vote. Staff said implementation steps will follow negotiation procedures and that the agreement closes out the prior negotiation cycle while opening the next cycle per the sunshine letter process.
