The Downtown Adrian Main Street DDA discussed and tabled a recommendation June 11 to purchase a paper Vibe Map design for $2,000, directing staff to return with a broader set of options for static signage, kiosks and digital wayfinding.
Jay presented the Vibe Map design service recommendation and estimated printing for 5,000 maps at roughly $1,000–$1,500. "The cost of the design is 2,000," Jay said, noting that the design fee would not include printing. Board members raised accessibility concerns: several said Q R code‑linked digital maps can create barriers for older residents who are unfamiliar with QR codes. Jacob (treasurer) and others suggested fundraising and advertising could offset kiosk or map costs.
Discussion included lower‑cost static signage, digital kiosks (board members estimated kiosk projects at $10,000–$20,000), and using existing glass signs downtown as locations for wayfinding. Several members recommended consulting the sign committee and getting pricing and design options before deciding. After a motion to table the issue and to return with a wider options report that includes sign committee input, the board voted in favor by voice vote.
The motion to table was approved; staff will return with pricing and signage/kiosk options and recommended funding approaches.
