Adrian commissioners and volunteers celebrate bicentennial, report nearly $50,000 raised

"We were able to raise nearly $50,000 with all of our sponsors," Roberts said, noting that figure does not include in-kind contributions such as donated services. She named gold sponsors (including Adrian Steel), silver and bronze sponsors, and thanked partner organizations that provided logistical help, venues and programming for the parade, Parade of Homes, time capsule and other events.
Roberts acknowledged the time capsule committee and historians who cataloged and photographed items, thanked volunteers for operating parks and shuttles, and recognized businesses and nonprofit partners including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Lenawee Historical Museum and the Adrian District Library. Don DeLong, president of Adrian Steel, and other local business leaders accepted recognition at the podium.
The commission used the recognition segment to present glassware and commemorative coins to committee members and volunteers. Roberts said remaining budget items will be finalized in the next week or two and that some funds may be donated back to the museum and library.
What the city did: the commission formally acknowledged the bicentennial committee and sponsors and allowed recipients to receive gifts on the record. No vote or financial appropriation was taken during the recognition segment.
What's next: Roberts said she will complete budget reconciliation and mail time-capsule packets to non-resident contributors; commissioners encouraged the public to thank volunteers and partner organizations.
