Barnes recommended graying out the blue paint rather than sand‑blasting and removing the sign, a method staff said is easier and avoids water cleanup.
A commissioner observed that the space was underused if no permit tag was present and supported the homeowner’s request. The commission voted to approve the removal on a roll call; staff said the space will be repainted and the sign removed via routine maintenance work orders.
The approval makes the curb space public; staff noted this does not guarantee the homeowner exclusive access and that any vehicle could park there once the sign and blue paint are removed.
