Montebello Civil Service Commission approves minutes, affirms rotation, and schedules termination appeal

The Montebello Civil Service Commission opened its meeting Jan. 27 with an invocation and flag salute, conducted roll call and approved minutes from the Oct. 28 meeting by voice vote.
Commissioners discussed a proposed reorganization of chair/vice-chair roles and agreed to continue rotating the commission chair in alignment with the mayoral rotation; a motion to nominate and second the proposal passed by voice vote.
Staff notified the commission of an upcoming termination appeal involving a safety member that is scheduled to begin on the commission’s regular meeting date, Tuesday, May 26. Counsel and city staff agreed the appeal will require four meeting nights and added special meeting dates of May 28, June 1 and June 3; commissioners were polled for availability and told formal notices would follow.
With no further business, the commission adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
