The House Human Services Committee convened this morning for a brief reorganization meeting held pursuant to House Rule 44, and members introduced themselves to the panel.
Chairman Dan Williams opened the session and said the purpose was "to reorganize the committee for the 2025, February." Representative Doyle Heffley offered opening remarks, saying he looked forward to working with colleagues "as we continue the important work which directly impacts our citizens, especially with respect to issues of substance use disorder, mental health, and ensuring quality services for those with intellectual disabilities."
Committee staff conducted a roll call; Chairman Williams announced, "We have a quorum." Members then gave short introductions, stating their names and district or county affiliations. Speakers included Danielle Verlatin (Chester County), Melissa Serrato (Montgomery County), Jessica Benham (Allegheny County), Tara Khan (Philadelphia County), John Schlegel (Lebanon County), Representative Flick (Union and Lycoming counties), Representative Rivera (Lancaster), Brenda Pugh (Luzerne County), Eric Wheetnick (Berks County), Anne Flood (Northampton County), Emily Kincaid (Allegheny County), Joe Hogan (Bucks County), Josh Bashline (Clarion and Armstrong Counties), Malou Mackenzie (Northampton/Lehigh/Montgomery), Mark Anderson (York County), Jim Prokopiak (Bucks County), Chad Reichard (Franklin County) and others who recorded their presence during roll call.
Chairman Williams noted staff introductions would be handled at a later time. With no further business, he reminded members that a joint informational meeting would begin shortly and adjourned the committee: "As of now, this meeting is adjourned. Thank you so much."
