Miss Nichols said the city could use the parcel in the long term as a small shaded sitting area, picnic spot, or as property conserved for future rail-trail or station planning. The donation will relieve the current owner from paying property taxes on land that has limited practical use under current railroad right-of-way restrictions.
A councilmember moved to accept the gift and authorize the city manager to execute the gift deed; the motion carried on a voice vote.
