The Whitehouse City Council approved a facility use agreement with the Smith County Elections Administration to use the City Center as an official polling location for the March primary, May election, possible May runoff, and the November general election.
Miss Nichols said the Elections Administrator identified the City Center training room as the best space, with voter entry through the west doors adjacent to the parking lot and curbside voting spaces available. County staff told city staff they will be careful with walls and flooring in the new building.
Council also adopted Ordinance 26-0127-03 to impose reasonable electioneering restrictions on city property used for polling. The ordinance allows small two-faced H-frame signs (described as "2 by 2" in staff materials) placed in designated areas, prohibits T-posts and other intrusive installations, and limits sign placement to a window (typically 24 hours before polling and removed within 24 hours after polling). Staff emphasized the rule's goal is to protect irrigation and landscaping while providing space for election-related signs.
The council voted to approve both the facility use agreement and the electioneering ordinance on voice votes.
