Allegany board adopts revised registered-offenders policy after second reading

Mister Lewellen, who presented the policy review, said the revision removed a number of exceptions and clarified the district’s approach to registered offenders following legislative changes. "This is policy K I A, registered offenders policy, with the change in the law," he said, explaining the policy committee’s review.
A board member (speaker 2) moved to approve the second reading and the Board Chair seconded the motion. The chair called for a voice vote and announced the motion passed. No roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting minutes.
Under new business, staff noted that several regulatory exhibits tied to the prior policy would be negated by the revisions; Mister Lewellen told the board the regulations would go away unless members chose to send them back to the policy committee for further review.
The adoption takes effect under the board’s standard rules for policy adoption following a successful second reading. The district did not provide a written breakdown of how the new language will be applied in specific cases during this meeting.
