County awards grant-funded repair contract for Ditch 25; approves resolution to apply for Highway 5/US-14 interchange freight grant

County staff reported that alternative side-intake (ASI) installation work for portions of County Ditch 25 is funded through a grant administered by the local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). The county received two quotes; ISG and county staff evaluated the bids and recommended awarding the work to Sellers Construction LLC, which submitted the low lump-sum quote of $28,180. The board moved and approved awarding the contract.
Separately, County Engineer Ryan described a resolution of support authorizing Blue Earth County to apply for Minnesota Highway Freight Program funding for a County State Highway 5 reconstruction project in Mankato that includes a grade-separated interchange with US Highway 14 and roundabouts at ramp locations. The resolution authorizes the county engineer to sign the application, commits the county to provide required local matching funds identified in the application, and authorizes county officers to execute any grant agreement with MnDOT. The board moved and approved the resolution.
