Blue Earth County drainage authority approves multiple ditch repair contracts and sets hearing for Ditch 89

County drainage staff presented repair scopes and bid tabulations for several county ditches at the Sept. 9 meeting and the drainage authority approved awards and a hearing date.
For County Ditch 25 staff described sloughing repairs, ditch side-slope reshaping, sediment cleaning and tree removal. The engineer's estimate was $215,138.25 and ISG recommended the low bid from Leland Drainage and Excavating for $172,115.29; the drainage authority approved the award by voice vote.
For County Ditch 26 staff reported six quotes were received and ISG recommended awarding the project to Larson Contracting at the low bid of $155,597.63; the authority approved the award by voice vote.
County Ditch 73 received one quote (submitted 08/29/2025) to replace portions of subsurface tile lines. The engineer estimate was $106,254.51 and the single quote from Leland Excavating and Drainage was $122,535; the drainage authority approved the award.
Staff also presented a repair report and landowner outreach for County Ditch 89 (approximately 880 acres in Pleasant Mound and Shelby Townships) and requested the drainage authority set a public hearing; the authority set the hearing for Sept. 23, 2025.
The awards and the hearing date were approved by voice votes; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. Staff indicated ISG had worked with recommended contractors on similar past projects and noted the bids, engineer estimates and recommended award amounts in the meeting packet.
