DPW staff recommended participation in a three‑town agreement (Westborough, Southborough, Hopkinton) to acquire a pipe inspection camera. DPW said the device costs about $142,000, with a grant covering roughly $110,000 and Westborough's portion about $10,000. DPW recommended approving an intermunicipal agreement that spells out maintenance, scheduling and cost‑sharing. The board approved the agreement.
Select Board members also considered a request from Southborough to rejoin the MetroWest Regional Emergency Communication Center District. Staff noted the MetroWest governing board voted to recommend inclusion; the board moved pursuant to Section 7L of the RECC intermunicipal agreement to include Southborough and amend the IMA accordingly. The motion passed.
Board members said adding Southborough would strengthen the regional dispatch district and could produce cost efficiencies.
