Grants and disbursements: The commission approved a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) reimbursement request for $3,661. They also approved requisition number 115 for the University Town Center excise tax district administrative expense fund in the amount of $1,004.17 to Steptoe & Johnson. A disbursement of $1,197.32 from the County Fire Protection Contingency Fund was approved as reimbursement to the Monongate County Volunteer Fire Company Association for tanker maintenance and repairs.
Letter of intent to U.S. Army Corps: Commissioners authorized a letter of intent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers related to funding the annual recreational lock schedule on the Mon River and agreed to add an addendum capping the county’s contribution at $10,000.
Letter of support for specialty physician placement: The commission voted to write a letter of support for placement of an ophthalmology physician specializing in uveitis under an Appalachian Regional Commission program that can waive recruitment requirements for positions with specialized skill sets.
