MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — At its July 31 meeting the Middletown City School District Board of Education voted to waive the second reading and adopt a set of policy revisions recommended by the district’s policy reviewer, removing Policy 5321 (Use of the District Credit Card) and replacing it with Policy 8334 (Use of the Credit Card).
A policy committee representative presented the motion to waive the second reading for revisions recommended by 'NISPA' (as read during the meeting). A board member explained to the public that waiving a second reading is standard when the committee has already discussed and vetted the recommended language; the board has recently transitioned from using Erie 1 BOCES policy services to the New York State School Boards Association (as its policy source), which has led to a number of recommended revisions.
After brief discussion the board voted to waive the second reading and adopted the updated policies. The board also noted that policy 5321 will be deleted and policy 8334 will be in place going forward.
