Committee approves annexation of 1681 Bilta Road so property can be placed on city water

The Building, Zoning & Economic Development Committee voted unanimously to approve an ordinance to annex 1681 Bilta Road into the City of Aurora so the property can be placed on city water.

Jason Basic, senior planner with the zoning and planning division, told the committee the parcel is currently in unincorporated Kane County in an F (farming) zoning district and is part of negotiations tied to a Bilta Road expansion. "We are going to put them on city water, in order to not have them pay double water rates," Basic said, describing the annexation as a mechanism to avoid duplicate billing when the property's well sits inside the project right-of-way.

The annexation was presented as a petition from the property owner and staff said annexation would allow the city to provide water service without changing the property's intended use. Aldermen asked staff to add the site map to the public record and staff agreed.

Alderman Franco moved the ordinance and Alderman Seville seconded. The committee recorded a 3-0 vote in favor; there were no public commenters on the item.

The committee record shows the motion carried 3-0.
