Council approves several administrative measures: Granicus extension, servitude agreement, furlough motion and sheriff contract signatory

During the session the City Council approved a series of administrative measures including a one-year extension of its Granicus agenda and video services contract, a servitude agreement for air rights over a public right-of-way, a staff furlough motion, and a change to the signatories on a contract with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Council approved motion m26 51 to extend a Granicus contract for 03/01/2026–02/28/2027 for up to $82,684.38 to continue agenda preparation and meeting-video services while the city evaluates alternatives; the motion passed with six yays and no nays. The Council approved an ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter a servitude agreement at 1544 Gentile Boulevard, setting an annual fee at $200 with adjustments; the ordinance passed with six yeas. The Council adopted motion m26 55 to subject unclassified Council employees to one mandatory unpaid furlough date per pay period beginning 02/15/2026 through 12/31/2026 (22 unpaid furlough dates total); Council expressed collective participation and passed the motion 7 yays, no nays. The Council also directed suspension of Rule 57 to bypass committee consideration and added the Council President as a signatory on a contract with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (motion m26 56); the suspension and related motions were approved at the meeting.

These votes were positioned by councilors as routine administrative measures to address fiscal constraints and contractual continuity while the city evaluates longer-term options.
