Selectmen clear routine agenda: consent items, Norwood Day date and donation discussed, trails grant supported

The Town of Norwood Board of Selectmen handled a slate of routine governance items on Jan. 27, approving warrant signatures, the Dec. 2, 2025 meeting minutes (with a minor wording change), and most consent-agenda items including event permits and cemetery deed updates.

The board discussed moving Norwood Day to Aug. 29, 2026 to avoid Labor Day and other calendar conflicts; the date was presented as the weekend before Labor Day. The board also reviewed a donation from the William & Carol Haskell Living Trust; the town manager reported an initial $85,000 payment with a matching future installment when the estate is settled. The manager floated the option of placing the funds into an endowment to produce a recurring annual distribution for youth programming; board members suggested forming a small working group with staff to recommend parameters for use.
