Applicant withdraws request for lime-green awnings at self-storage site, will revert to approved blue

At the Jan. 28 Architectural Review Board meeting, planning staff presented petition 2025-0024-ARB seeking exterior color and awning changes for a self-storage facility under construction on a 5.445-acre site.
Damien Newell of the planning division said staff supported the previously approved palette but recommended against the applicant's proposed green awnings and building banding, instead suggesting black awnings with green limited to signage. Gerard Rippo, representing the applicant, said the green was part of the Extra Space Storage branding but that his team would withdraw the application and revert to the previously approved blue if the board did not support the change.
Board members who visited nearby properties said colors on surrounding commercial buildings are muted and that the lime-green accent would not be consistent with the area. After discussion, the applicant formally requested to withdraw the application and proceed with blue awnings already authorized under the prior approval.
