The Golden Isle Safe Neighborhood District board voted unanimously Sept. 15 to adopt a tentative ad valorem millage rate of 1.0934 and to approve a tentative fiscal year 2025-26 budget.
At the start of the evening hearing, the presiding official called the session to order at 5:41 p.m. A clerk-conducted roll call showed Chair Cooper, Director Adams, Director Butler and Director Lima Taub present and Vice Chair Lazarus absent; the clerk recorded that the board had a quorum.
The presiding official introduced the millage resolution and stated, “The tentative millage for consideration by the board is 1.0934, which will generate revenues of $637,833 representing a 9.02% increase over the rollback rate of 1.0029 mills.” A motion and a second were made, and the clerk announced the motion carried, 4-0.
Board members then considered a resolution adopting the tentative annual budget for FY2025-26. The presiding official moved the budget resolution; after a second, the clerk again recorded a 4-0 vote in favor.
A staff member later clarified the rollback rate figure cited earlier, noting the proper rollback rate was 0.9963. The presiding official asked whether the corrected figure needed to be reread into the record; staff responded that the initial announcement satisfied the statutory requirement.
The presiding official said the board did not intend to roll back the millage, citing anticipated investments in the community and a suggestion raised by Director Butler. The meeting was adjourned after the votes.
What happens next: These are tentative actions. The millage rate and budget adopted at this hearing are subject to any further required public-notice or final-adoption processes under applicable law.
