Newton County finance director reports midyear FY26 finances: revenues and expenditures roughly on track

At the Jan. 20 meeting Britney White, Newton County’s finance director, presented December 2025 financials, explaining the county is halfway through FY26.
White reported general fund revenue to date of $46,600,000 (roughly 43% of the annual budget) and general fund expenditures to date of $46,400,000 (about 42% of budget), leaving a $183,000 excess. She presented monthly revenue and expenditure graphs showing November produced the highest tax collections to date. White also reported enterprise fund figures (water: revenue $7,100,000; expenditures $2,900,000; solid waste revenue $4,900,000; expenditures $2,900,000) and gave available balances for active SPLOST funds (2017: $31,900,000 available; 2023: $12,200,000 available) and $2,100,000 in available impact fees to date.
Commissioner Edwards asked whether White was comfortable with expense and revenue positions for this point in the fiscal year; White said she was. The report was informational and no formal action was required.
