Commissioners adopt slate of infrastructure, human-services and youth-program resolutions

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners adopted a package of resolutions on agenda items ranging from roadwork and drainage compensation to youth- and human-services contracts during a virtual session.
Infrastructure and public works: The board declared the 2026 resurfacing program necessary and set a hearing for Feb. 17, 2026 (Resolution 4526), and approved compensation packages for property owners on Plum Run drainage improvements (Resolution 4626) and the Renner Road project (Resolution 4726). The county engineer also presented the annual bridge inspection report; staff said most county-owned bridges were rated acceptable while five bridges were identified as rated poor and will be scheduled for repair or replacement (Resolution 4826).
Animal services: Commissioners authorized acceptance of private gifts totaling $30,000 for the Franklin County dog shelter and adoption center and directed the funds to the Animal Care & Control donation fund (Resolutions 4926 and 5026).
Human services and workforce programs: The board approved contracts and subawards including a $2,014,500 subaward to the Franklin County Office on Aging for Adult Protective Services (Resolution 5226), a $75,000 contract with United Way of Central Ohio for tax-preparation services (Resolution 5326), a $350,000 agreement with Tech Corps Ohio for a youth technology program (Resolution 5426), and a $105,000 subaward to the Columbus Urban League for the Journey to Wealth financial-education program (Resolution 5526). The Columbus Urban League award was adopted with one recorded abstention by Commissioner Boyce.
Justice and child-welfare programs: The board approved a $104,000 professional-services contract with Maurice Lee for justice policy program management (Resolution 5626), a $500,000 contract with the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas to support CASA/guardian ad litem services (Resolution 5726), and a $14,158.38 extension to a subaward with Central Ohio Youth for Christ for juvenile-justice programming (Resolution 5826).
Administration and notices: Commissioners designated an official representative and alternate for the County Commissioners Association of Ohio annual meeting (Resolution 5926) and received a staff notice about an expedited annexation petition to annex 15.3 acres from Jackson Township to the city of Grove City (ANX 126). The meeting then adjourned.
