The mayor read the proclamation aloud and attached the city seal.
Responding, Simichek said he was "very humbled by this proclamation" and credited the Browns Backers chapter, volunteers and local staff who helped with fundraising and events. He also said he was stepping back from some activities for health reasons and asked for continued community support.
Council members offered thanks and congratulations. The proclamation was entered into the meeting record and the mayor and recipient posed at the podium.
