Cross Plains approves $578,774.71 payment to contractor, authorizes WEDC vibrant-spaces grant application

The Village of Cross Plains approved its first payment application for the new Village Hall construction and moved forward with a small economic-development grant application at the Jan. 26 meeting.
Staff reported that Brickell Brothers began site work Nov. 3 and that foundation pours and early building work are under way; the board voted to approve Payment Application No. 1 to Brickell Brothers in the amount of $578,774.71 after Wold (the architect) reviewed and recommended the certificate for payment.
Separately, staff described a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) Vibrant Spaces grant that would fund a pedestrian connection between the Village Hall parking area and the boardwalk to Zander Park, plus a small pavilion, bike repair station, benches and kiosk near restroom facilities. Because Cross Plains is below the 5,000-population threshold, the match rate for the grant was corrected in the resolution to a 25% local match. The board approved a resolution to apply for $45,132 in grant funds with a 25% match and asked staff to attach the pre-application materials and budget narrative to the OneDrive packet for trustee review.
Trustees also discussed purchasing furniture via UW System or Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contracts and requested that staff return with vendor quotes for camera and key-card systems and police lockers.
