Atascosa County Commissioners Court on Oct. 15 authorized an ARPA-funded procurement not to exceed $1,053,115 to purchase EMS equipment from Stryker, the meeting record shows.
Auditor and finance staff presented a procurement package for the ARPA budget line item 012487644 that would purchase nine EKG monitors (for eight EMS units plus the director’s unit), eight new stretchers and five-year maintenance plans for the new equipment and existing CPR machines. Staff described the quote as a top-of-the-line package and noted that maintenance agreements are expensive but provide replacement coverage.
The court discussed that the listed amount is a not-to-exceed total and that final pricing may be lower; procurement staff said Stryker is the sole-source provider for the specified equipment. Commissioner Gillespie moved to approve the purchase and Commissioner Bowen seconded; the motion carried.
The purchase will be funded from the county’s ARPA line item; the court did not record any amendments to the procurement terms at the meeting. The approved maintenance agreements extend for five years and were emphasized by staff as part of the value proposition.
