House Bill 2452, which had proposed modifications to the service of rent-increase notices, was advanced by the Housing Committee on Jan. 29 after members adopted an amendment that narrows the bill’s effect to manufactured-mobile-home tenants.
Audrey Vacek described the amendment H-3215.1 (moved by Rep. Peterson) as striking the Residential Landlord Tenant Act (RLTA) portion so the bill modifies only service requirements under the Manufactured Mobile Home Landlord-Tenant Act (MHLTA). Chair Peterson said the amendment makes sense after the committee moved HB2664 to address RLTA-related notice concerns.
Representative Connors voiced support, noting that owners and tenants in manufactured housing communities prefer the clarity of the prior MHLTA service rules. The committee adopted the amendment by voice vote, incorporated it into a substitute House Bill 2452, and the clerk announced a tally of 17 ayes; the substitute was reported out of committee with a due-pass recommendation.
Next steps: the substitute bill will proceed to the House floor for possible further amendment and final passage.
