At a Struthers City Council caucus, Mayor Miller told the finance and legislation committee the citys pre-application for an Eastgate ARC FY2026 area development grant for the wastewater treatment plant had been approved and that the final application must be filed immediately to avoid losing the funding.
"We have already been approved for the pre application. This is fiscal year 2026 for the wastewater treatment plant," Miller said, adding that the final application "has to be done by tomorrow and submitted. And we don't wanna lose that money." He initially cited a figure of $103,000 but later corrected the amount to $108,400.
Committee members moved and seconded to bring the ordinance forward. The ordinance text read that it would authorize the mayor to submit the application and execute required documents and included an emergency declaration. The caucus discussion focused on meeting the grant deadline and ensuring the final paperwork is submitted on time.
The transcript does not record a formal roll-call vote or a detailed budget breakdown for the proposed grant; members said the pre-application had been authorized previously and the current action was to finalize submission.
