Two past participants described the application experience and supports. “My motivation to compete in the Volusia Innovation Challenge was driven mainly because my daughters and I had come up with a finance game for children,” one participant said, citing a family-driven idea as the impetus for applying. Another participant described the process as straightforward: “To apply and compete in the Volusia Innovation Challenge was really easy. There was an extensive amount of help through the whole process. You get assigned a coach, and they're with you from the very beginning as you start putting your pitch together to the very end when you're presenting.”
The host emphasized networking and potential rewards for applicants: “For those who step up and apply, new connections, valuable insights, and encouragement await. And for those chosen as Volusia Innovation Challenge winners, there are well earned financial awards.”
A past winner recounted competing for a $10,000 prize and said the outcome included both the award and a workspace: “It felt like it was time to try to compete for $10,000. We didn't know at the time if we were ready, but we took a leap of faith and ultimately that materialized in not only the $10,000 win, but now an office space here at the Volusia Innovation Hub.”
