The Town of Swansea approved routine and nonpublic minutes, awarded a refund for a Whitcomb Hall rental, approved a proposed May car show and moved to enter nonpublic session during its meeting.
At the start of the meeting Speaker 3 moved to approve the regular minutes for Dec. 23, Jan. 9 and Jan. 20; Speaker 2 recused themself from the Jan. 23 entry. The motion carried by voice vote. Speaker 3 also moved to include the Dec. 23 nonpublic minutes in the packet after Speaker 6 noted those nonpublic minutes had been sent to the board; that motion also carried by voice vote.
On a separate agenda item, the board considered a request to refund a Whitcomb Hall rental fee after the renter arrived to find setup had not been completed amid snow and closed walkways. Speaker 3 described the circumstances and moved to refund the fee; Speaker 2 seconded and the board approved the refund by voice vote.
During public presentations the board heard from Lee Jondro Keene Karshaw (presenter), who described a proposed car show for May 7 with volunteer staffing, a $5 admission fee and planned activities for children and vendors. Speaker 3 moved to approve the event as submitted; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Near the end of the meeting Speaker 2 moved to adjourn; Speaker 3 then moved to go into nonpublic session and the board prepared to proceed.
Next procedural steps: staff will update the meeting packet and support materials where needed and follow up on any required documentation related to the approved refund and event permit.
