The Clean Energy work group updated the Sustainability Commission on two workforce and business-support initiatives: a Green Bay Sustainable Business Accelerator and exploratory internship criteria to help with program work.
The accelerator—funded through a grant obtained by the presenter’s employer—will provide no-cost cohort support for up to 10 businesses located within city limits and with fewer than 500 employees. The program will cover topics including energy, waste, water, biodiversity and nature-based solutions; sessions are likely to run every other week from April through June and organizers extended the registration deadline into March.
"It's free for up to 10 businesses," the presenter said, asking commission members to suggest eligible companies and to help promote the cohort. The group also discussed outreach to local business improvement districts and the Chamber of Commerce to recruit participants.
Separately, the work group is drafting internship criteria to support data management and program tasks (e.g., Green Tier/legacy reporting) but noted the internships in the current draft are unpaid; members flagged timing concerns for March reporting deadlines and suggested creating a recurring internship posting to recruit ahead of future cycles.
No formal action was taken; staff will continue outreach and refine internship criteria.
