The Hammond City Board of Public Works and Safety renewed a business-exemption for the BP gas station at 2300 Indianapolis on Oct. 23 after the owner’s representative attended and staff reported compliance with prior conditions.
Owner representative Anish Chitaliket told the board he had confirmed with earlier reviewers that outstanding items had been resolved; the board discussed specific items from the previous year — removal of a defunct pay phone, stabilizing a leaning fence on the south side, and providing an ADA-compliant route to the front entrance — and staff reported they were satisfied. "I checked with mister Novak before, and he didn't have any of these outstanding," Chitaliket said.
A lieutenant from the police department also indicated compliance; a board member recommended renewal and the chair concurred, and the board renewed the exemption. No additional conditions were added at the meeting.
