Facilities committee hears bond update: Forest Hills, stadium kickoff and East Junior Middle School demolition

At the Jan. 28 facilities committee meeting, Miss Emel presented an informational update on remaining projects funded by the district2022 bond. She said the packet covers work at Forest Hills, the kickoff of premium bond projects such as an athletic stadium, and continued design on a barn project.

Miss Emel described active demolition at East Junior Middle School, saying she had provided photos and that "if you stand in front of the property now, you can see clear through into the courtyard." She said the demolition team has removed the agricultural shop and cleared the cafeteria area.

Regarding schedule, Miss Emel said the district projected an 18-month timeline and expects to be prepared to move into the school in the 2027-28 school year. She added the district is conducting survey diligence for the Forest Hills football field and hopes to start some field items this summer, with ancillary work continuing through fall and winter.

The update was informational; no formal committee action was taken on the bond projects during this meeting. The committee may receive further schedule and budget updates at later meetings.
