The council also took up private-club permit applications, including one for SHJ Concepts Inc. doing business as Bridge Street Brewery; a resident told the council the proposed area has experienced illegal activity and urged caution.
Several zoning requests moved from second to third reading or toward adoption, including rezoning requests for properties at 500 North Culverhouse Street, 200 Sarton Lane and Kathleen Street. Staff noted some proposed rezones are not consistent with the adopted land-use plan but said certain changes would bring parcels closer into compliance than current designations. Council discussion focused on staff summaries and how the comprehensive plan updates might address inconsistencies.
What happens next: ordinances introduced by title will return for subsequent readings or final votes as required by the city code. Staff will continue to provide land-use explanations when a rezoning is noted as inconsistent with the plan.
